Effective Board Approaches to Risk Management and Navigating Uncertainty

This session aims to address pitfalls in boards’ approaches to risk management and to provide you with direction and tools to elevate your board and organisation’s approach to risk.
The session will also explore the differences between risk management and oversight in uncertainty, as boards grapple with a multitude of evolving and unclear pathways and possibilities.
Panel speakers:
- Julien Haye is a seasoned risk expert with over 24 years of experience in the financial services industry, spanning roles from front-office trader to Chief Risk Officer. Renowned for transforming risk, compliance, and assurance functions into strategic enablers, Julien helps businesses drive efficiency and effectiveness. Through Aevitium, he advises on complex risk and compliance transformations, regulatory challenges, and governance solutions. A passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, Julien also serves as a non-executive director and trustee, sharing insights as a public speaker and writer.
- Kathryn Kerle is a risk management professional, with a background in financial services. She is currently a Trustee and the Chair, Audit & Risk Committee, of the William Harvey Research Foundation, a Lay Member of the Governance, Risk and Audit Committee of the Bar Standards Board, and a a member of the Advisory Board of the Risk Coalition. She has been a board member of several organisations, including Al Rayan Bank, newcleo and Planet Holdings Ltd. She has also chaired the audit and risk committees of a number of these and other organisations, including the Microbiology Society. During her executive career, she worked for major commercial banks, including JP Morgan Chase and NatWest, and a rating agency, Moody’s Investors Service. She also founded and managed a consulting company, The Paradigm Alliance.
