This event will equip attendees with an understanding of some common challenges which can arise as well as actionable strategies for constructive engagement at board level. The discussion will include focus on valuable insight into possible board conflicts scenarios (and resolutions), navigating complex discussions, addressing unhealthy behaviours and effectively handling underperformance at board level.

By sharing real-world experiences and successful approaches, we aim to help you identify and overcome board scenarios and elevate the overall performance of your board.

Invited speakers:

• Angela Williams is an experienced portfolio Executive and Non-Executive Director who has worked across a range of FTSE30, US (incl. NASDAQ) and French (CAC) listed Companies. She has experience across sectors (both B2B and B2C), international jurisdictions, and serving on boards of organisations which employ from 500 people to 450,000 people. Angela’s current roles include Chief People Officer at Corsearch; Chair of Northcoders Group plc; NED of BMJ; NED of AND Digital and NED at SNG housing association.  She serves as a Chair of Remuneration Committee/ Remuneration and Nominations Committee.
• Ellie Barlow is a Non-executive Director and a Consultant within the Retail Financial Services market with an extensive background in senior executive roles for global insurers and price comparison brands. She has served on the boards of insurers and a private equity firm, with experience of different types of structure and exposure to different influences on board dynamics. Prior to her more recent NED roles, Ellie’s formulative career in retail banking was followed by leadership roles with Comparethemarket.com and Moneysupermarket.com, managing relationships with hundreds of insurers, developing innovative data and advertising services, and driving improvement to digital journey and customer experience. Latterly, she led KPMG’s Digital Insurance practice and established a consultancy business to deliver digital transformation, operational excellence and programme assurance services to global and domestic insurers.
• Practical insights will also be shared during the session by contributing members of NEDonBoard’s prior roundtable on Board Dynamics, Challenges and Strategies for Constructive Engagement, which has drawn out many common challenging scenarios NEDs can find themselves in.
